Miles Sanders says goodbye to Eagles fans

Former Nittany Lion [autotag]Miles Sanders[/autotag] seems to be heading to a new team as he tweeted his goodbye to the city of brotherly love on Tuesday. The soon-to-be former Eagles running back was a free agent with the Eagles coming off their final game in Super Bowl LIV where they lost to the Chiefs.

Unlike his former teammate Saquon Barkley, the Eagles did not place the franchise tag on Sanders, allowing him to hit the open market.

Sanders has been the starting running back in Philadelphia for the past four seasons, posting 3,708 rushing yards and 20 touchdowns over that time. Despite those impressive numbers, the team made two moves on Tuesday when they re-signed Boston Scott and brought in Rashaad Penny from the Seahawks.

Those corresponding moves resulted in Sanders sending out the following tweet wishing Philadelphia nothing but love with his departure inevitable.

An interesting note surrounding Sanders and his football career, he has never played for a team that wasn’t in Pennsylvania.

Sanders is from Pittsburgh and attended Woodland Hills High School in the area. From there he obviously attended Penn State where he found monumental success alongside Barkley and reached The Rose Bowl with them. From there he was a second-round draft pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.

Barring that Sanders signs with the Steelers, which would be a great story for homecoming, he will be in a new state for 2023 at the very least.
