Miles Bridges, Hornets fail to reach agreement on contract extension

Bridges will become a restricted free agent next summer.

It looks like Miles Bridges will be hitting free agency at the end of the 2021-22 season.

The four-year forward and the Charlotte Hornets failed to reach an agreement on a contract extension before Monday’s deadline, which will make Bridges a restricted free agent next summer, per Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports.

Bridges was among a handful of 2018 lottery picks who failed to reach an agreement on an extension, including No. 1 pick Deandre Ayton.

Going into the 2021-22 season without an extension will surely add a chip to Bridges’ shoulder as he looks to prove himself to if not just the Hornets, but to the rest of the league to increase his market come next summer.

In 2020-21, Bridges averaged 12.7 points and 6.0 rebounds in 66 games.
