From his catching ability to his celebrations, Vikings coach Mike Zimmer was quite a fan of Justin Jefferson when he was at LSU.
Zimmer’s Vikings ended up drafting Jefferson at pick No. 22 in the first round of the NFL Draft. The Minnesota coach talked to ESPN’s NFL Live about what parts of Jefferson’s game stood out to him.
“I think his ability to go up and get the football,” Zimmer told ESPN’s NFL Live (H/T 247 Sports). “(When) he was in contested catches, he was one of the best in the country. He was able to line up in all the different positions on the offense and run all kinds of different routes. So he looked like a professional right from [the] start, but his acceleration, the way he (moved) — even liked his touchdown dances.”
Jefferson had 111 receptions for 1,540 yards and 18 touchdowns for the Tigers in 2019. In the offseason, the Vikings traded Stefon Diggs to the Bills for draft picks, so hopefully Jefferson can replace some of Diggs’ production.
