Mike Zimmer claps back when reporter asks about his job status

Coach Zimmer wasn’t having it today.

Mike Zimmer is still the head coach of the Minnesota Vikings—for now.

Black Monday is right around the corner, and the hot topic debate has lingered on what the Vikings should do about their coaching situation. Should they part ways with Zimmer and look to fill the void more to their liking?

Or, should they consider retaining the long-tenured coach that has spent the last eight seasons with the franchise? One thing is certain: The questions won’t stop coming.

Following the Vikings’ 31-17 win over the Chicago Bears on Sunday, Zimmer was asked about his job status, again. However, this time, the Vikings coach clapped back.

“No, I haven’t heard anything about my job status, and I haven’t heard anything about yours, either,” Zimmer aimed in the direction of a reporter. “Not my choice, Not my decision.”

Per Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero, the Vikings are expected to move on from Zimmer as their head coach.

The team has clearly underperformed over the last two seasons, and owners Zygi and Mark Wilf could be looking to shake things up. It’s still baffling that a team as talented as the Vikings could finish with consecutive losing seasons and miss the playoffs in the last two years.

The word disappointing can’t even begin to describe the 2021 season in Minnesota.
