Former Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel will reportedly interview for the Los Angeles Chargers’ head coaching vacancy.
According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, Vrabel is in Los Angeles to talk to the Chargers on Thursday. This is the first known interview Vrabel has had for a head coaching vacancy since being fired on Jan. 9.
In addition, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Vrabel is garnering interest from the Atlanta Falcons and Seattle Seahawks for their openings, although no scheduled interviews have been reported as of this writing.
Despite a down year in 2023, the Chargers job is no doubt an attractive one, mostly thanks to the presence of talented young quarterback Justin Herbert.
Los Angeles also has an aging but talented roster that can win now, which is a great fit for Vrabel. However, the Chargers are also in salary cap hell, with the team sitting at $44.9 million over the cap going into the offseason.
Vrabel isn’t the only high-profile candidate the Chargers have talked to. Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh is also a candidate for the job, thus Vrabel is going to have stiff competition if he wants the gig in L.A.
