Mike Tyson has been sued by a woman who claims he raped her in the early 1990s, Sports Illustrated is reporting.
The accuser, who filed the suit under New York’s Adult Survivors Act, is seeking $5 million in damages.
The woman, who was not identified, said in an affidavit she accepted an invitation from Tyson to go to a party in a limousine. However, according to SI, she alleges that Tyson “violently raped” her when she stepped inside.
She added that she has “experienced extreme emotional suffering including but not limited to nightmares, panic attacks and flashbacks,” SI reported.
The Adult Survivors Act, signed into law last May, allows those over 18 to sue their alleged abusers regardless of when the abuse took place.
Tyson, 56, spent three years in prison in the 1990s for raping beauty pageant contestant Desiree Washington in 1991.
