Mike Tomlin reaches new low with questionable decisions against Chiefs

Will Tomlin’s controversial decision to punt against the Chiefs define the Steelers’ season as the AFC North race heats up?

Mike Tomlin has truly outdone himself. With the Pittsburgh Steelers trailing the Kansas City Chiefs 29-10 in the fourth quarter—less than six minutes remaining in the Week 17 contest—Tomlin made one of the most ludicrous decisions fans have ever witnessed.

Facing an intimidating but necessary 4th and 2 inside Pittsburgh’s own territory, the Black and Gold seemingly rolled over when Tomlin made the call to punt the ball away.

This decision tops the list of terrible decision-making by Tomlin. Although the Steelers head coach was criticized for his decisions to punt on critical 4th downs in previous weeks, there is reasonable defense for today’s questionable call.

If the Baltimore Ravens are unable to defeat the Houston Texans, little changes about the Steelers’ AFC North divisional title aspirations besides a must-win game in Week 18 against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Will Tomlin’s decision to punt against the Chiefs come back to haunt the Steelers as the postseason draws ever closer?
