The Philadelphia 76ers are still sitting atop the Eastern Conference and they are playing some pretty good basketball despite losing Joel Embiid to a bone bruise on March 12. The team is 6-1 since his injury and the one loss came in overtime to a tough Milwaukee Bucks team.
They have been that successful mostly due to the fact that Tobias Harris continues to take steps forward. In the seven games since the big fella went down, Harris is averaging 23.3 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 4.9 assists while shooting 50.4% from the floor and 47.6% from deep. He has been terrific when the Sixers need him the most.
However, Philadelphia believes that he can give even more to this team as the season continues.
“He’s been great,” said veteran Mike Scott. “I still think he was an All-Star, he’s All-NBA this year. He deserves it. Still not done. That’s my guy, all the success is starting to come. He’s put the time in as well. Like I said, more to come.”

js = d.createElement(s);
js.className = n;

fjs.parentNode.insertBefore(js, fjs);
}(document, ‘script’, ‘exco-player’));
Harris was snubbed from the All-star game despite having a career season for the top team in the Eastern Conference and it is clear that it is still bothering him. He has continued to take big steps forward and the Sixers are reaping the benefits of his improvements.
He has also been a big reason why Philadelphia has been able to close games out recently without Embiid. Harris has been able to lead the group and his play has helped the team with their execution down the stretch of games. that was not there in the past.
“Execution on both ends, big plays,” said Scott. “We kind of got to stop letting teams back into it. That will be better than giving people heart attacks, but execution on both ends has been much better.”
The Sixers will continue the road trip on Saturday against the Los Angeles Clippers at Staples Center.
