The shot heard around the world in Game 7 of a semifinals series by Kawhi Leonard in Toronto still stings. It was a shot that bounced in every way possible before finally dropping to eliminate the Philadelphia 76ers. Most felt like that was Philadelphia’s best chance at a title considering their talent and the injuries to Western Conference powers like the Golden State Warriors.
However, it did not work out that way as Toronto went on to take advantage and win the first title in franchise history.
Sixers forward Mike Scott joined the Let’s Talk Battle Rap Podcast to give his take on the Leonard shot defended closely by Joel Embiid.
Scott said:
It hit the rim like four times and Jo closed out, great defense, you know, he faded off to the corner he shot it short. So he got that shooter’s role. I don’t know, he must be living right…I still think Kawhi traveled, but, whatever. Call me a sore loser.
When a shot like that one drops, all you can really do is tip your cap and move on. Leonard and the Raptors did their thing and they went on to win a title. Scott acknowledged that and he did give them their credit.
What I was saying to myself I was like ‘You know what man if you’re gonna beat us this like this, then y’all better when the whole [expletive]. Y’all better not come out here and get swept’ and rightfully so, you know, they won the whole thing, he got MVP. If you’re gonna go out, that’s the way to go out.
As the Sixers continue on their revenge tour, they await when they can get back to work to conclude the 2019-20 season which has been on hiatus since March 11. It does appear that they will get their chance to avenge their 2019 playoff loss as it appears that there is a date out there for a resumption. [lawrence-related id=31376,31372,31356]
