On Monday, the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame announced their class of 2023. The class of 2023 consists of five inductees which include; Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski, North Carolina center Tyler Hansbrough, Duke guard Johnny Dawkins, Division II head coach Herb Magee, and legendary scout Tom Konchalski.
The five newest inductees will be celebrated and officially inducted into the Hall of Fame on Aug. 30 in Chicago. It is the 17th class in the Hall of Fames history with its inaugural class coming in 2006. This will be the second-smallest class in its history, previously in 2020, the 1963-1964 UCLA Bruins, the 1965-66 Texas Western Miners, and the 1975-1976 Indiana Hoosiers were inducted as a whole for their championship seasons.
Located in Kansas City, Missouri, the National College Basketball Hall of Fame is part of the College Basketball Experience. Connected to the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City, the College Basketball Experience is an interactive museum and entertainment experience that is dedicated to the history of college basketball but also gives fans a chance to interact with different exhibits and experiences throughout the facility.
The College Basketball Experience and National College Basketball Hall of Fame are owned by the National Association of Basketball Coaches Foundation.
A portion of the facility is dedicated to the National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame which while completely separate is supposed to complement the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame located in Springfield, Massachusetts.
Additionally, Mike Krzyzewski was inducted in 2006, the inaugural class for the Hall of Fame. This year will serve as an official addition of him to the Hall of Fame as it had to wait for his retirement to be official.
