NASHVILLE — A former University of Tennessee basketball player was recently honored by his high school.
Mike Jackson, who starred for the Volunteers between 1973-77 and played under Ray Mears and alongside Ernie Grunfeld and Bernard King, had the court named in his honor at Stratford STEM Magnet High School.
The former Vol was honored at a ceremony at the school on Tuesday, Dec. 10.
Jackson was also in attendance at Thompson-Boling Arena Saturday afternoon when Tennessee lost to Memphis, 51-47.
He played on the 1976-77 UT team that went 22-6 and was co-champion of the Southeastern Conference.
Jackson was a two-time all-SEC player and averaged 14.3 points per game during his career on Rocky Top. He played 87 career games and also averaged 3.7 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game for the Vols.
