Prodigal son, come home. Michigan’s all-time leading rusher is reportedly coming back to Ann Arbor, but now in a coaching capacity, 14 years after he last strapped on a winged helmet.

Mike Hart spent a couple years in the NFL with the Indianapolis Colts, but then quickly got into the coaching ranks. He started at Eastern Michigan before heading to Syracuse then Indiana, where he’s coached running backs the past several years.

But now he’s coming to Ann Arbor, as the Wolverines new running backs coach. The news was first reported by fellow former Michigan running back Jamie Morris on The M Zone on WTKA and confirmed by The Michigan Insider’s Sam Webb.

As far as coaching attrition is concerned, quarterbacks coach Ben McDaniels was not retained on the offensive side of the ball. Michigan is still looking to fill Don Brown’s defensive coordinator position, though it appears that there’s an NFL assistant who will fill that role. Other positional assistants are currently up in the air.

Update:

It appears to be official, with the graphic and all.
