Mike Golic has been on ESPN Radio for over two decades, an incredible run that included the iconic Mike and Mike.
And on Tuesday, we learned that his incredible run is about to come to an end.
ESPN released a new schedule that will begin on Aug. 17, and Golic’s current morning show with Trey Wingo is out. Golic’s former partner Mike Greenberg will be back on with a show that starts at noon Eastern, and Golic’s son Mike Golic Jr. has an afternoon show with WNBA star Chiney Ogumike.
The tributes to Golic poured in on Twitter, from fans, colleagues and his family, including his son:
Lots of changes announced today, but ESPN Radio won't be the same without @espngolic, who started w/ the network in October 1998. That's thousands of mornings, interviews, stories, road shows, friendly wagers – and, yes, donuts. There's a reason Mike is a Hall of Famer. pic.twitter.com/j2nPCEAlVF

lots of complicated feelings today, but one that isn’t complicated at all is how pumped I am to get to work with this legend every day. Chiney is the best there is 👑 https://t.co/Qu0XKXPs5L

Just hearing about @espngolic Because of him, I had a nat’l radio show on @ESPN. We weren’t super close & only did a few NFL show together but HE is the one who suggested to execs I fill in for Greeny one morning & the rest is history. I will FOREVER be grateful.

Thank you @espngolic for always treating me with respect from the first time I set foot on the set of Mike and Mike, to the last time we talked on Golic and Wingo. A true pro. 👊🏾

Mike #Golic has been one of "the" sports voices of my life! I feel like an uncle is moving away! From the moment #MikeandMike was put on ESPN news I have had it on my DVR! This really hurts!

Hearing about the ESPN radio changes are devastating….my mornings have started with @espngolic since high school and they will for sure not be the same without him. We will miss the entire Golic family, over the years you became my radio family.

Mike Golic is one of the most important people in the history of sports-talk radio. https://t.co/06nLOmhAgb

Every time I met Mike Golic he was always a really nice guy – and that's genuine. Just as important, not many athletes can wake up at 4:30am every day for two decades and do four hours of radio.
