Jan. 2 will be the final assignment the legendary Mike Golic will have for ESPN before his contract expires.
Golic’s run on ESPN Radio of over two decades ended in July on the final Wingo and Golic, and since then, he’s worked some college football broadcasts, and that included some doughnut eating that fans loved.
Golic was on the mic for the Alamo Bowl on Tuesday night, and as he said on Twitter, the Fiesta Bowl on Saturday will be his last ESPN call before his contract is finished.
Over a week ago, he tweeted about what was his final visit to ESPN’s campus:
Weird day this Dec. 22nd. While I still have Alamo bowl and Fiesta bowl on my ESPN schedule, I was at ESPN today for the last time. There have been many changes since it became my work home in Oct. of 1998. Some good, some not so good. I’ve made many friends through 1/3

The years and have had many great experiences, but what seemed most fitting to me was the last person I saw when I left, it was my son Mike, and while he and Chiney are stars on the rise, I can honestly say my most enjoyable years were sharing a mic with him 2/3.

As he said, he’s not done working yet, something Golic has said previously. But it seems like all signs point to this weekend as the end of an incredible career at ESPN:
