It’s Heisman Week here at Trojans Wire. USC is fully expected to add to its Heisman legacy on Saturday evening, when Caleb Williams will be heavily favored to win the 2022 Heisman Trophy at the Downtown Athletic Club in New York.
Because USC is centrally involved in this year’s Heisman Trophy chase and the awards ceremony which will be nationally televised by ESPN, this is a week meant for Heisman retrospectives. USC has seven Heisman winners. If there ever was a time — and a reason — to share the stories of the Trojans’ Heisman Trophy giants from the past, this is it.
We begin with USC’s first Heisman winner, the man who began the Trojans’ history of being a Heisman Trophy factory. Assuming Caleb Williams does win Heisman No. 8, USC will become the first school with eight Heisman winners.
