On Monday it was announced that Texas A&M hired Duke head coach Mike Elko to take over the football program. Elko left the program as the defensive coordinator to take the Duke job following the 2021 season.
Mike Elko finished his run in Durham with a combined record of 16-9 and 1-0 in his lone bowl game appearance. The Blue Devils will return to bowl season after finishing 7-5. Associate head coach and running backs coach Trooper Taylor will serve as the interim.
Elko signed a six-year contract with an annual base salary of $7 million.
Post-Season Incentives:
- Make the College Football Playoff (CFP): $ 1 million
- Advance to the CFP Quarter Finals and/or win the SEC title: $1.5 million
- Advance to the CFP Semi-Finals: $2 million
- Advance to the CFP Championship Game: $2.5 million
- Win the National Championship: $3.5 million
Other Incentive Compensation:
- Appear in SEC Championship Game: $100,000
- SEC Coach of the Year: $50,000
- National Coach of the Year: $100,000
- Multi-year APR of 960 or above: $50,000
Salary Pool for assistant coaches, analysts, operations, recruiting, and strength & conditioning: $11 million
