Former Cleveland Browns legend Jim Brown passed away last week, and Cincinnati Bengals owner Mike Brown talked with Bengals writer Geoff Hobson about the memories he has of the running back.

“He was an extraordinary athlete,” Brown said. “He was a big man. But very fast. He was 228 (pounds), 232 maybe later on. But sculpted. The thing people just don’t give him credit for is how fast he was.”

He also called Jim Brown the best runner that he ever saw, after being able to see most of his career up close since Mike’s father Paul Brown was the coach of the Cleveland Browns for six years of Jim Brown’s time there.

Mike Brown said he didn’t know that Jim Brown was so ill and his passing came as a surprise to him, adding that he respected him as a player and believed he was special.
