Joe Burrow will wear No. 9 with the Cincinnati Bengals.
Ahead of Thursday’s 2020 NFL draft, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Bengals owner Mike Brown sent Burrow a care package the day prior, including a handwritten letter and No. 9 jerseys.
That No. 9, of course, was also sported by one Carson Palmer — the last quarterback the Bengals took No. 1 overall.
The news that Brown sent these items cemented what we already knew — Burrow was the first pick and had been for quite some time.
Included in the letter was a line from Brown that says he is looking forward “to building championship football teams with you for many years to come.”
Now more than ever, the Bengals are truly kicking off a new era with a brand new No. 9 under center.
Mike Brown also sent Joe Burrow and his parents No. 9 Bengals jerseys – jerseys for all of them — which now officially will be the number that he will wear in Cincinnati. https://t.co/l0BDOnJJnx
