Mikal Bridges reacts to being traded from Suns to Nets for Kevin Durant

Mikal Bridges reacts to being traded from the Phoenix Suns to the Brooklyn Nets in the Kevin Durant deal.

Trade season is here and the biggest domino has fallen. The Brooklyn Nets, after trading away Kyrie Irving to the Dallas Mavericks on Feb. 5, have moved Kevin Durant to the Phoenix Suns for a package centered around Mikal Bridges.

The Nets, who are left to wonder what happened after seemingly being in the driver’s seat to win a championship when they had Durant, Irving and James Harden in the 2020-21 season, now enter a transition phase with Bridges leading the way.

The full package for Durant is Bridges, Cam Johnson, four first-round picks, and a 2028 pick swap as well as Jae Crowder. The Nets will focus on development and rebuilding as they move forward with a new era.

Bridges was in shock after learning of the deal, and he took to Twitter to give his reaction to leaving the Suns and joining the Nets.

Bridges is averaging 17.2 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.6 assists while shooting 38.7% from deep in the 2022-23 season. He looks to replicate those numbers in Brooklyn playing next to Spencer Dinwiddie, Cam Thomas and Nic Claxton.
