Coaches wait until the last second to try and call timeouts and freeze opposing kickers.
Sometimes it works, and other times it backfires.
The latter happened to TCU on Saturday as the first half of the Fiesta Bowl was coming to an end.
Sonny Dykes called a timeout as Jake Moody was about to attempt a 59-yard field goal, five yards better than his career mark.
The ball was snapped and Moody’s attempt was low and off-line.
However, the timeout had been granted and Moody had another shot.
He drilled the 59-yarder to set a school record and bring Michigan within 21-6 at the break.
