In order to earn the award a team must score in the top 10% of their sport in the most recent Academic Progress Rate results. This is the eight time the men’s basketball team has garnered the recognition. According to a release from MSU, “The APR measures eligibility, graduation and retention each semester or academic term and provides a clear picture of the ongoing academic performance for each team in every sport.”
The MSU ice hockey, men’s soccer, men’s swimming and diving, men’s tennis and women’s gymnastics programs also earned the NCAA APR Public Recognition Award.
