MSU downs Canisius in game one of weekend series

Michigan State hockey has made the trip to western New York for an out of conference weekend series against Canisius. The series started about as perfect as the Spartans could have wanted.

Trey Augustine pitched a 15-save shutout en route to a 3-0 MSU victory, improving the team to 4-1 on the 2024-25 season.

Tanner Kelly, Joey Larson and Daniel Russell all picked up goals in the game, giving Michigan State the edge over the Griffins. MSU won the shots on goal battle 35-15 in the game.

The two teams will square off on Saturday at 7 p.m., where the Spartans will look to earn the weekend sweep.
