Michigan State football announcer has bypass procedure

Prayers up for George Blaha

Many Michigan State football fans have come to know and love George Blaha’s “Touchdown MSU!” call on fall Saturdays. Blaha has been a staple of Michigan State football, and is widely known as the voice of Spartan football, doing play-by-play on the radio every weekend. In addition to MSU games, Blaha is the play-by-play voice for the Detroit Pistons on TV.

Blaha, along with the Detroit Pistons, released a statement announcing that he will miss the remainder of the 2021-22 season because of a heart-bypass procedure he will be undergoing this week.

It is unknown if this will affect Blaha this upcoming football season, but the first step is making sure his health is in the best spot possible.
