The unsettling news broke on Wednesday, when the television and streaming selections for the first three weeks of the college football season were revealed. This year’s Washington-Michigan State football game in East Lansing, played on Saturday, Sept. 16, will be only on Peacock, the NBC-owned streaming service. It won’t be on NBC or any over-the-air television channel.
Our friends at Spartans Wire noted that Michigan State fans are not happy at all about this:
“Michigan State and Washington’s week three contest was one of the most anticipated games on the Spartans schedule heading into the 2023 season. That feeling has changed for some Spartan fans.
“It has been released that the two teams are going to square off at 5 p.m. EST exclusively on NBC’s streaming platform, Peacock, much to many fans’ dismay.”
We have to now ask ourselves if USC games in the Big Ten will get the Peacock-only treatment. This is the kind of thing Trojan fans — who have had to endure Pac-12 Network over the past decade — had hoped to escape for good.
