As mentioned in the AP Poll story, it seems Michigan State tends to make a habit of climbing to the top of the NCAA rankings only to fall down the next week or so.
On Sunday, the Spartans were upset by Northwestern and the loss has resulted in a tumble of seven spots in this week’s Coaches Poll to No. 11 from No. 4.
Unlike the AP Poll, The Spartans are ranked one spot ahead of Rutgers. Iowa and Wisconsin come in at No. 5 and No. 9 respectively in the coaches poll. Michigan State will have a tough test against Wisconsin on Christmas Day in an attempt to reinstill some confidence in the team. The Badgers will be led by Micah Potter who is averaging 13.9 PPG and 6.7 RPG. Tom Izzo will have his work cut out for him after Sunday’s beating.
