Michigan already got some speed — a lot of it — at the wide receiver position in the 2021 recruiting class, why not add some at other skill positions on the offensive side of the ball?
So the Wolverines did just that on Saturday evening.
While the pursuit of West Bloomfield (MI) four-star running back Donovan Edwards has been perhaps the most visible battle for the maize and blue this cycle, Michigan football managed to reel in another, as four-star tailback Tavierre Dunlap spurned Oklahoma State, Nebraska, Arizona State, Washington, USC, Utah and Virginia Tech for the Wolverines.
Dunlap is rated as the No. 220 player in the country according to 247Sports, and the 14th-best running back in 2021.

Once again, Michigan is up to 21 commits in the 2021 class, with targets Rayshawn Benny, safety Daymon David and the aforementioned Edwards remaining as highly-visible targets.
As far as Edwards’ stance on Michigan taking another tailback, it is believed — according to two people close to the situation — that it does not impact the Wolverines’ chances at landing the in-state four-star.
Dunlap is based out of Del Valle (TX) and also has offers from Michigan State and Notre Dame.
