Michigan ‘out-toughed us’ and other notable quotes from MSU players

Interesting things were said by the four Michigan State players who met with the media on what Michigan did to win the game.

S David Dowell

We’ve already covered MSU’s woes in the passing game. In fact, with 386 yards, Michigan put up the most yards through the air than what State’s allowed all season.

But, fifth-year senior safety David Dowell isn’t crediting Michigan. He’s saying that MSU didn’t execute as it could have — especially knowing what the Wolverines plan wasn’t too different than what was anticipated.

“For me, it always comes back onto us,” Dowell said. “We’ve been practicing for them all week. It’s really no different than any other game. We know that they’re going to pass the ball, they’re gonna throw on the perimeter. Quick gain – that’s basically like their run. Especially against us. Every team’s been doing that to us the past year, all year. We know it’s coming.

“It’s when things – when the lights come on, you either gotta make the play or you don’t. You either make the tackle or you don’t. You make the play on the ball or you don’t. We’re not doing a great job on the back end of doing that this year or right now.”
