QB Brian Lewerke
MSU’s signal caller did not have nearly as good of a day.
Lewerke finished 17-for-30 for 166 yards, one touchdown to two interceptions and with 18 yards total rushing.
When did he feel like the game was over for Michigan State? Though Michigan had control of the game, he didn’t feel like it was out of reach until rather late.
“Maybe after the blocked punt, that was tough to overcome.”
Before that play, MSU was about to go for it on 4th-and-1, but a false start quickly made that 4th-and-6. Then, Michigan VIPER Khaleke Hudson blocked the punt and the rest was certainly history, but what happened on that 4th down play?
Michigan fans, you’ve heard this before, as it was something that happened in Week Two against Army that kept the Black Knights from getting an easy score just outside of the endzone.
“The defensive line yelled ‘move,’ and they shifted,” Lewerke said. “And our guys moved.”
So, Lewerke, in his fifth-year, is now 2-3 against Michigan, and 1-2 as a starter. How does he feel now that the tide has changed in the rivalry?
“Obviously upset,” Lewerke said. “This is the last time I’ll ever play them. So, a little bit upset. But, we gotta win two games, make it to a bowl game.”
