Michigan moves into No. 2 spot as College Football Playoff rankings shake up

The fifth edition of the College Football Playoff rankings is here, and we have a little movement in the top four.

The fifth edition of the College Football Playoff Rankings went live tonight, with Georgia holding on to the top spot as expected. Ohio State’s loss to Michigan dropped them out of the playoffs and back to No. 7, opening up a spot for rival Michigan at No. 2.

Alabama, which narrowly escaped disaster against Auburn in the Iron Bowl in four overtimes, remained at No. 3, while Cincinnati held strong at No. 4.

Notre Dame, which now finds itself without a head coach as Brian Kelly was unexpectedly lured to LSU, won’t have an opportunity to improve its CFP resume as it has no conference tournament. The Irish, who sit at No. 6, now have to sit and wait for other results.
