As it’s gone with the 2022 recruiting class for Michigan football, it’s been two steps forward, one step back. That continues to be the case for the Wolverines.
It started early, with Alex VanSumeren and Myles Rowser both committing to the class early. Then Rowser decommitted. Michigan continued to add players, but every time it did, one of them would choose to move on, such as VanSumeren, Tyler Martin and now one of its prized four-star commits from Tennessee.
The Wolverines got a double surprise in recent months when 2022 Cross Plains (TN) East Robertson four-star safety Taylor Groves committed on the same day that fellow Volunteer State native Kody Jones pledged to the maize and blue. However, the former announced that he’s opening up his recruitment, as Groves plans to seek other options in college football.
First I would like to thank @UMichFootball and @CoachMo15 for the opportunity, with that being said, I will be 100% opening my recruitment back up!!💪🏾💪🏾

This puts Michigan football back at six pledges in the 2022 recruiting class, with one five-star, two four-stars and three three-stars still committed.
