Michigan football targeting Indiana wide receiver in transfer portal — again

Need to get him! #GoBlue

Last year, when Michigan football was looking for wide receivers in the transfer portal, there was one name that seemed to stick out as a viable option to come to Ann Arbor. However, following a coaching change, that wideout opted to stay with his original school.

However, last week, Indiana wide receiver (and former quarterback) Donaven McCulley re-entered the transfer portal, looking for a change of scenery after all.

And according to On3’s Pete Nakos, McCulley is hearing from the Wolverines, which appears to be one of his top schools, along with Ole Miss, Tennessee, Cincinnati, Miami (Fla.), and Colorado.

McCulley has appeared in four games this season and has two catches for 21 yards and one touchdown. This comes one year after being the Hoosiers’ leading receiver with 48 catches for 644 yards and six touchdowns.

With 2024 now being his redshirt year, McCulley will have one year of eligibility remaining at his school of choice. The Wolverines did bring back Amorion Walker to be a wide receiver after having transferred to Ole Miss in the spring as a cornerback. He had his first catch of the season in Week 6, in a pivotal third-down conversion from Jack Tuttle, who took the reins at quarterback in the second quarter of the game against Washington. CJ Charleston was the other incoming wide receiver transfer who had one big catch against Texas in a similar situation.
