Michigan football quick film hits: Indiana

Michigan football defeated Indiana 39-14 as they improved to 9-2 on the season. What did I discover upon rewatching the win?

DEFENSE

  • I know defensive tackle Chris Hinton has played in two games prior to Indiana, but he was in on the first series against the Hoosiers. He didn’t start, but the fact that he was in the rotation this early in the game shows he’s close to starting and being a consistent help to the group.
  • In the second quarter on third and one, linebacker Josh Uche just gets unblocked and goes directly to the ball carrier on the play and blows it up for a loss. His quickness and speed to get to the ballcarrier quickly and stop that play from even happening is huge for this defense.
  • Indiana targeted their tight end a lot this game, and while that could have been because their top two wide receivers were injured, that is still an area that the Wolverines defense lacks skill in. There isn’t a linebacker on the team that can do well in coverage against a tight end and that’s something that Ohio State might attack.
