Similar to the 2022 class’ formation for Michigan football, it’s one step forward, one step back.
Back when the Wolverines were putting together the 2022 recruiting class, it always seemed like whenever the maize and blue would get a commitment, a decommitment would soon follow. On Sunday, both happened for Michigan.
After reeling in a four-star tight end in Andrew Rappleyea in the afternoon, the class which had grown to five is now back down to four. Richmond (Va.) Benedictine defensive tackle Joel Starlings had committed to Michigan the day after the Wolverines’ win over Ohio State, but on Sunday, he pulled back, announcing he was decommitting from the class.

Rated the No. 216 player in the country according to the 247Sports Composite, Starlings’ primary recruiter in Ann Arbor was Shaun Nua, the defensive line coach who departed for USC and Lincoln Riley this offseason.
