It was only two days ago that Clemson defensive tackle Tre Williams entered the transfer portal. And two days later, he’s in Ann Arbor, checking out what Michigan football has to offer.
And it appears as if the Wolverines are in the pole position for his services.
Hailing from the 2020 class, the former Washington (D.C.) St. Johns (the same school as outgoing Michigan safety Quinten Johnson) product got his start at Clemson. But his injury-riddled career meant that the 6-foot-3, 310-pound defensive tackle wasn’t quite as productive as his four-star ranking.
Now Williams is seeking greener pastures and he’s gotten a prediction that he’ll end up wearing maize and blue by The Wolverine’s EJ Holland.

Here is how Williams originally ranked according to the recruiting services:

Though he ended up at Clemson, Williams was originally predicted to Ohio State by two 247Sports analysts.
Michigan football already has gotten one transfer portal defensive tackle in former Belleville (Mich.) and Alabama DT Damon Payne. The Wolverines are also targeting another Clemson player in wide receiver Tony Stellato.
