Once upon a time, when a team like Michigan football would send a vast amount of players to the NFL via the draft, the crop of players who would see the field that following year would end up being pretty good in their own right. It’s the ‘next man up’ maxim in action.

While that hasn’t necessarily been the case for the Wolverines, we’ve still seen those next men up come in and be as good if not better than their predecessors at places like Alabama, Clemson and Ohio State.

But what if Michigan already has a roster full of players who could theoretically be more than just as good as the next guy? What if there are players who could come in and change the game entirely, helping propel the maize and blue to the next level?

Michigan has a lot of players who could take that mantle. Here, we’ll go position-by-position and share who those ‘game changers’ might be and why we believe they have the potential to be breakout stars this year or beyond?
