Michigan football has been all in on its pursuit of 2025 Belleville (Mich.) five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood, and as a result, the Wolverines lost their longstanding quarterback commit.
A year ago at this time, despite pursuing Underwood then, the Wolverines got a pledge from 2025 Fort Myers (Fla.) Bishop Verot four-star QB Carter Smith. Rated a three-star at the time of his pledge, the dual-threat signal caller rose up the rankings once he pledged to the maize and blue. But he backed off his pledge in recent weeks with the news that Michigan really coveted Underwood.
Now it appears that a new school has emerged. Though Wisconsin and Penn State appeared to be on the table, it’s looking like Florida State may be the team to beat, according to On3’s Steve Wiltfong.

With the Seminoles emerging, should Michigan strike out on Underwood, it seems unlikely that it would be able to double back on Smith, who was committed for nearly a year.
