Michigan football 2025 QB commit Carter Smith balled out over the weekend

College football teams aren’t the only ones to have spring games. But for Michigan football 2025 quarterback commit Carter Smith, his spring game was an actual game against another opponent.

On Friday evening, Fort Myers (Fla.) Bishop Verot took on two schools — Columbus and Riverview — and in the process, Smith balled out, not particularly in passing, but especially using his legs as his dual-threat skills posed problems for the two teams he faced.

In fact, he accounted for seven rushing touchdowns in the two spring jamboree games.

It was just a spring jamboree Bishop Verot rising senior quarterback Carter Smith and the Vikings offense look to be in midseason form.

Smith, a Michigan commit, rushed for seven total touchdowns — four against Columbus and three against Sarasota Riverview — and host Verot won convincingly against both teams on Friday night.
“It’s exciting,” said Smith, the No. 1 ranked quarterback and No. 32 overall player on the USA Today Florida Network top 100. “It’s definitely cool to be able to do something like that, but it’s great to be out here with the guys again. It’s always a blast and I couldn’t ask for a better team to finish out my high school career with.”

Athlon Sports also covered spring jamboree and the duo of Smith at quarterback and running back DeShon Jenkins were formidable for Bishop Verot. In fact, Smith’s prowess along with Jenkins’ tough running led as the top takeaway for all of spring jamboree.

These two are going to be a tough duo to stop for any front seven defensive unit, especially with the way they ran the ball on Friday. Carter Smith, a Michigan commitment, was nearly unstoppable running the ball against Columbus and Sarasota Riverview, totaling seven rushing touchdowns in the four quarters of play. Jenkins is a unit out of the backfield for the Vikings and in the first two quarters against Columbus was used early and often, rushing for 89 yards on 13 attempts. Carter rushed for 124 on nine touches versus the Explorers. When they get going, they’re a tough tandem to slow down.
