The undefeated Wolverines clocked in at No. 5 in the CFP’s first official standings, with Tennessee, Ohio State, Georgia and Clemson ranked above them in that order.
While nobody is shocked to see the Vols at the top or Georgia high up, Michigan fans seem to be very insulted at the suggestion that Clemson might be better in the selection committee’s eyes.
Sure, Michigan is undefeated and has wins over teams like Penn State and, uh, Michigan State. Though, committee chair Boo Corrigan says the strength of schedule is what’s separating Michigan from Clemson at the moment.

Well, some folks, including plenty of Michigan fans, still aren’t too thrilled about the Wolverines being considered a spot lower than the Tigers.
If Michigan really wants to prove its mettle and move up the rankings, its annual rivalry game against Ohio State is Nov. 26. Win that, and the team will likely snag a spot higher than No. 5.
