Detroit (MI) Renaissance doesn’t have the cache like its counterparts Cass Tech and King. There have been few who have dressed in burgundy and white that have worn the maize and blue, but the program does have some Division I-level players. Most recently, this week, defensive back Robert Army, a three-star, committed to Iowa State.
But now, one of his former teammates will get to don that winged helmet.
Jerome Nichols is a 6-foot-1, 225-pound H-back and linebacker. He might not have the accolades or recruiting profiles that some other notable recruits in the area have. But the 2020 athlete got the opportunity to come to Michigan as a preferred walk-on, and he accepted it, announcing on Twitter on Thursday that he’s committing to be a Wolverine.

As noted on his Hudl film, Nichols is also dedicated in the classroom, boasting a 3.5 GPA, and was looking to play in the Ivy League.
He has offers from Valparaiso and Northwood, according to The D Zone.
