Most of the game in the VRBO Citrus Bowl, Michigan held its own against Alabama. But, going into the game, there was serious trepidation from fans and pundits about the Wolverines defensive line against the Crimson Tide’s vaunted OL.
Pressure was assuredly difficult to come by, but one Michigan defender stood out to Jedrick Wills, the elite offensive tackle who entered the NFL Draft with another year of eligibility on the line.
After Wills shared about how the SEC and its defensive ends prepared him for the NFL, he was asked at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis who the best pass rusher he faced in-conference was.
It turns out, according to Wills, the best pass rusher he faced was in the Big Ten and wears and winged helmet.
“Actually, it wasn’t in the SEC,” Wills said. “It was the last game of the year against Michigan. It was Josh Uche. He was a really good pass rusher. Has some counter moves, some speed to him. So it was a good matchup that I went against.”
Certainly, that’s a feather in Uche’s cap, however, he’ll need to make up some serious ground at Michigan’s Pro Day, as he’s not participating in drills at the combine due to an injured hamstring.
As of current, Uche is most widely projected as a third-round pick in the NFL Draft.
