Michigan earned a 72-70 win over Northwestern Wednesday and has won three straight games. During the streak, UM has shot a robust 57.2% from the floor, including a 55.1% mark from 3-point range. That accuracy mark has been a sharp turn for the Wolverines, who shot just 40.7% from the floor in losing their three previous games (Dec. 30-Jan. 14).

Michigan State is coming off a 56-55 loss at Illinois Tuesday. MSU — which trailed by 14 at the half — nearly pulled off a comeback victory, but it trailed by multiple possessions through about three-quarters of the game. The Spartans shot a season-low 34.5% from the field. They forced just six turnovers after forcing 10.5 per game over their previous four.

Michigan at Michigan State odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Michigan State 72, Michigan 68

Money line

The Illinois game was just an all-around misfire for the Spartans. Look for a strong bounce-back in this game.

At current prices, MICHIGAN STATE (-160) is worthy of attention. Tag the ATS play with more value, but consider a money line wager as an undercard or insurance buffer.

Against the spread

MSU is 6-1 ATS in its last seven games following a straight-up loss. The home five has won six in a row ATS in this series.

Michigan State has the superior inside defense, and the Spartans are the better rebounding team. An edge in getting to the foul line can also be projected here, and a two- or three-possession final margin is probable enough.

BACK THE SPARTANS -2.5 (-115).

Over/Under

The Over is the general feel here, but probably best in action around an evenly priced (-110) total of 138. So, PASS, or consider as a line watch.
