Michigan at Maryland: Three things to know
- Sophomore G Donta Scott has come on strong for the Terrapins in recent games. The 6-foot-7, 225-pound Philadelphia product averaged 5.9 points per game last year as a freshman. This year he’s averaging 12.9 PPG. Over Maryland’s last four games, Scott has averaged 14.5 PPG while shooting 58.3% from the field.
- Maryland and Michigan met once last year, with the Terps downing the Wolverines, 83-70 (in College Park) in what marked the last game before the COVID-19 pandemic nixed the remainder of the season. Maryland shot 56% from the floor in that contest. The Terps’ victory snapped a four-game Michigan win streak in the series.
- Michigan’s offense has averaged 82.0 PPG, and UM shooters have been especially dialed in of late. Since Dec. 1, the Wolverines have shot a robust 51.9% from the field and 79.7% from the free-throw line. Michigan’s 51.5% field-goal mark for the season ranks second in the Big Ten.

Money line (ML)
PASS on the current tag, but keep an eye on the price as game time approaches. Some wiggle down toward -130 puts some value on the Michigan side of the ledger.
Against the spread (ATS)
The Wolverines are 4-0 ATS in their last four games as a road favorite, and in over the last seven meetings in this series, the road team is 5-2 ATS.
Maryland is solid-but-inconsistent in coming up with offensive boards, but they do generate a fair bit of offense on put-backs. Michigan has been improving on the defensive glass (UM owns an average rebound margin of plus-10.5 over its last five games) and is solid in defending in close.
Maryland is playing its third conference game since Christmas. TAKE MICHIGAN -2.5 (-105). The UM offense sometimes plays at a slower pace but it’s worthy of more attention.
Over/Under (O/U)
There is more conviction and value on the Michigan ATS play, but on the total, PEG A LEAN ON THE OVER 141.5 (-110).
