When Sept. 1 rolled around, 2022 Las Vegas (NV) Bishop Gorman four-star cornerback Fabian Ross heard from just about every school that’s been courting him thus far.

While Michigan’s head coach, Jim Harbaugh, wasn’t among his calls that day, it’s because he didn’t need to, as the two already had a lengthy video call some 30 days or so back.

“I actually got on a FaceTime with Coach Jim Harbaugh about a month ago, so I got to talk to him for about 30 minutes,” Ross told WolverinesWire. “It was a great experience talking to him. I talked to him for about 30 minutes long. It was a great conversation with him.

“He was just explaining how the school works and how he wants me there. He’s telling me all about Michigan, how practice has been going. He’s given me the run down of how Michigan works and how he wants me to be at their school.”

Michigan cornerbacks coach Mike Zordich is leading the charge in the No. 118 player in the nation’s — per 247Sports — recruitment. At 6-feet, 185-pounds, the pitch has been that Ross has an opportunity to compete for a starting role right away once he gets onto campus — something that’s rather appealing to the Las Vegas native.

But the important thing is the relationship he’s building with Zordich. The two have spoken multiple times a week for months now, but only now can Zordich initiate the call, per NCAA rules.

“It was May, ever since the end of May, I’ve been keeping in touch with him every week,” Ross said. “So two times a week, I’ve been keeping in touch with Coach Zordich. We’ve developed a pretty good relationship.”

Distance plays no factor for Ross, and he shares that he has family on his mother’s side living in Illinois.

At the moment, he has several schools coming after him, but he’s nowhere near a decision nor is he close to paring down his list of suitors.

Pursuing him the hardest, he says: “It’s Michigan, Washington, USC, Nebraska, Oregon, Notre Dame, Michigan State is reaching out and Arizona State.”

Ross didn’t grow up having a favorite school, but instead says he enjoys watching high-level college teams battle it out on the gridiron.
