[autotag]Michelle Waterson[/autotag] vows to not hold back in her upcoming fight.
Waterson (17-8 MMA, 5-4 UFC), who lost a split decision to Carla Esparza in her most recent bout at UFC 249, faces [autotag]Angela Hill[/autotag] on Sept. 12 looking to avoid the first three-fight losing streak of her career. Waterson, a former Invicta FC atomweight champion, expects the stylistic matchup with fellow striker Hill to allow her to let loose as she looks to put the frustrating loss to Esparza behind her.
Waterson wants to think less and fight more without worrying about the outcome.
“I think what it comes down to is I’m excited to go out there and fight,” Waterson told MMA Junkie. “I’m kinda done with trying to strategize and this and that. I’m excited to fight. I’m excited to punch her in the face, put some damage on her.”
She continued, “I walked away from my last fight pretty upset with myself and feeling as if it was not even as strenuous as a sparring match that I’ve had in training, and I never want to walk away with that feeling again. So I’m gonna go in there, I’m gonna lay it all on the line, and I’m gonna throw down with her. Stand there and trade with her because, at the end of the day, it’s a fight.”

Hill (12-8 MMA, 6-8 UFC) is coming off a split decision loss herself, and Waterson thinks that, in a matchup pitting two fighters eager to bounce back, the fight naturally should deliver.
“For sure potential ‘Fight of the Night,’ and I say that because that’s where my heart is right now,” Waterson said. “My heart is to go out there and just let it all out. I think I’m over trying to overthink it. I’m over trying to strategize. I’m over trying to win. I’m more excited to go out there and connect – connect my fist to her face.”
