Michael Penix Jr. buys his father a truck

Michael Penix Jr. thanked his parents for all their support with a brand-new truck.

Quarterback Michael Penix Jr. has one of the feel-good stories of the last decade in football. During his time at Indiana, he suffered four season-ending injuries before Kalen DeBoer and Ryan Grubb took a chance on him and he transferred to Washington.

From that point on, Penix turned into a superstar. He led the Huskies all the way to the national championship and etched his name into the school record books, finishing third all-time in both passing yards and touchdowns despite starting for just two seasons.

He also finished second in the 2023 Heisman Trophy voting, making him the highest finisher for the award in school history. Penix continued to defy the odds, despite being doubted by many NFL scouts, to become the No. 8 overall pick in April’s NFL draft by the Atlanta Falcons.

Through it all, Penix’s parents, Takisha and Michael Sr. were by his side. The Penix family could be spotted at most Husky games sporting his jersey and the Washington legend paid his success forward and thanked his parents by purchasing a new truck for his father.

As the signal caller begins the next step of his football career with the Falcons, his father can now proudly display the team’s colors whenever he drives around town.
