We told you Big Mike was going to make a huge impact at the professional level.
The New England Patriots waited until the sixth-round to pick up former Michigan football right guard Michael Onwenu, and Bill Belichick is already proving that it might be the biggest steal in the entire NFL draft. Onwenu has played in all three games for New England, but on Sunday as the Patriots hosted the Las Vegas Raiders, he didn’t just line up as an extra blocker on run plays, he got the bona fide start.
And he absolutely showed out.
According to PFF, Onwenu, who played left guard in the game, had the top grade in the entirety of the NFL of either guard position, with but one game left to be played on Monday night.
Michael Onwenu made his first NFL start at LG in Week 3.

We’re honestly not surprised, as Big Mike took a big step forward in his final year in Ann Arbor, and completely reshaped his body, both before his senior year, and as he prepared to join New England.
Expect more to come from the former Detroit (MI) Cass Tech product.
