In time, the Charlotte Hornets will hope Brandon Miller forms an integral franchise-changing duo with LaMelo Ball. For now, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft should probably first worry about impressing now minority stake owner Michael Jordan.
Even if Jordan is taking an according step back, he’s still one of the best basketball players in history. And he still had a lot of input on the Miller pick for Charlotte. So when it was time to call Miller and let him know he’d be calling North Carolina home, it was Jordan on the other end of the line.
Instead of saying “hello” or “welcome” first, the legend instead jokingly asked if Miller had the baseline skillset of palming a basketball.
Vintage Jordan.

That is, quite honestly, exactly what I’d expect from Jordan in that situation: probe Miller about some niche talent in basketball and only then welcome him. Never change, MJ. Never change.
