Michael Jordan was once the alpha of the NBA. Who is the top dog on the PGA Tour?

Michael Jordan was once the alpha of the NBA, without a doubt. Who carries that label on the PGA Tour? David Dusek and Adam Schupak discuss.

Michael Jordan has been making headlines and taking over sports talk on Twitter every Sunday for the last few weeks, thanks to the outstanding ESPN documentary The Last Dance.

Jordan is to many the best basketball player of all time, but of course he had to work really hard to get there. But when he got there, there was no doubting that he was the alpha dog of the NBA.

So who’s the alpha dog of the PGA Tour?

Is it Brooks Koepka, who about this time a year ago, won the PGA Championship for a second time, giving him four majors? At that time it certainly felt that way.

Or does that title belong to Rory McIlroy, the reigning Player of the Year?

Through the 2000s, Tiger Woods was undeniably “the guy.”

David Dusek and Adam Schupak debate that topic in episode 46 of Forward Press podcast.

“I think there’s still an opportunity for Tiger,” says Schupak. “I still he’s the guy who’s most feared right now in golf. … Rory still needs another major to cement his status. … (but) Rory vs. Keopka is great water-cooler debate.”

“I would throw my vote to Rory,” said Dusek. “I’ve been so impressed, every single week leading up to the Players Championship, it never felt like he wasn’t about to win.”

And who would be golf’s all-time alpha? Jack? Arnold?

“I’m going to go with Tiger, just because he was so dominant and everyone bowed down to him,” Schupak says.
