The Kansas City Chiefs had a weird game on Sunday for a number of reasons. They went into Week 17’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals on an eight-game winning streak, jumped to a 21-7 lead but couldn’t stop Ja’Marr Chase in the eventual loss.
So while the Bengals put out Kansas City’s hot streak, the Chiefs were also tasked with putting out an actual fire on the sidelines.
During the first half of Sunday’s game, the field was littered with feathers, which could have easily been mistaken for snow. But the CBS broadcast was able to pinpoint the actual culprit: a space heater.
Someone on the sideline stood too close to one of the heaters, which caused his coat to catch fire. Thankfully, nobody was hurt. And now, we’re able to laugh at the reaction from Patrick Mahomes and the rest of the Chiefs sideline.

NFL Films shared some mic’d-up video this week of the fiery (and feathery) mishap. Mahomes was getting ready to walk through some film with the offense, but he was quickly interrupted by a noise and a scream.
“That boy got caught on fire,” someone could be heard saying.
Some Chiefs players thought a bird flew into the heater because of all the feathers. But we could see the hole in the coat caused the mess. The Chiefs will have to watch where they’re standing next time. Those space heaters are, well, hot.
