The Thursday night opener to the 2021 NFL season went as well as the league could have hoped. What started with the Buccaneers celebrating their Super Bowl championship ended with a last-second win over the Dallas Cowboys.
And while the Bucs were heavily favored in that game, Dak Prescott’s performance — 403 yards and three touchdowns — had the Cowboys looking like actual contenders. Prescott certainly felt that way, and he let Tom Brady know it.
NFL Films shared mic’d-up video from the postgame handshake between Brady and Prescott. At first, it was the typical quarterback exchange. Brady told Prescott that he played great, and Prescott returned the compliment.
But Dak had something else to add.

As Brady walked away, Prescott said:
“We’ll see y’all again. Trust me.”
Given that this was the lone regular-season matchup between Tampa Bay and Dallas, it was an obvious reference to a potential playoff meeting down the road. And hey, if the Cowboys can look like that against lesser competition, the prediction probably isn’t out of the question.
That’s an exchange to check back on in a few months.
